This poor chap must be asked about his classic Honda 600 so much he invested in a special license plate and graphic (Calvin peeing on a H) to answer the question. The car is really an Austin Seven, just one of the many various incarnations of the Mini brand over the years. Check out larger photos from the inset in this gallery.

A quick post on the upcoming “Let’s Mini 2008” event in Hildesheim, Germany this next week; July 4th through the 6th. This event has been around a?few years and looks pretty amazing with over 700 Minis (new and old) gathered to party, race and bond.
If you are heading to the event in Germany and are willing to collect a little memrobilia–I would love to work a deal to get some merchandise. Long story short; we own the www.LetsMini.com domain here in the USA and have owned it for almost 5 years. It would be cool to have official merchandise for our collection.
Drop me an email to work out a deal–Please!!!
A Mini Vacation in Vegas, is in its fifth year. This west coast event draws several hundred Minis to the desert in the early spring each year. This year we decided that it was well worth the couple hundred mile drive to see a large collection of Minis and have some fun in Sin City. The host hotel for the event was the Palace Station hotel/casino; the hotel even closed?the top couple of floors in the parking garage for reserved parking.
The organizers have mastered the planning and check-in process. At check-in we were greeted by “Elvis-Cone”; I saw him at several events but have no idea how he got there. I had visions of him crammed in the rear of a Mini with the hatch up or perhaps in a Clubman with the doors tied together with a piece of rope. There was no shortage of activities this weekend, driving schools, tours, dinners and vendors.
We had plans to participate in a couple of the drives but a nasty cold awaited us on the 2nd day of the trip. We did the best we could but in the end we left a day early missing the big banquet on Saturday night. The reservation materials included the routes for the drives–we may make the trip another time to hit the roads that we missed.
And now for the money shot, nothing dirty here just a $400 jackpot from a round of Bingo. During the trip we hit the local Harley dealer and Ducati dealer with the thoughts that a big jackpot could get us both a new toy to take home. Alas, that was not to be. In the end the jackpot bought us a couple of small upgrades and a nice meal.

After picking up and moving across the country in the winter of 2006 we decided that a 4-wheel drive truck (Honda Ridgeline) was no longer a necessity for hauling home landscaping supplies. That sole factor started us thinking of Mini again and the fun you can have with go-kart like handling and acceleration.
Deb set her mind on it and started searching for a Mini dealer a little closer to our new home. The first two Mini’s came from Flow Mini in Greensboro, NC. They were easy and great to deal with and only 2 hours away–more like 3 days away now. Yes, we did even discus the potential for such a trip as a last resort. She found Brecht Mini in San Diego, CA; feedback on the Mini boards was pretty positive. After a couple of evenings building the perfect Mini on the website we were ready to commit.
Jump ahead a couple of month’s and we were off for a Saturday morning flight to get the car. We had grand plans of driving the car in CA and enjoying the coast. None of that was meant to be–San Diego and Riverside Counties had just been ravished by careless wildfires in the previous weeks and the area was still in upheaval. All along the highways the burnt landscape was visible and workers worked to put barriers in place to prevent further damage from upcoming rains. Given the situation we grabbed a quick lunch and piloted the new Mini back to Phoenix via the I-10 and the desert.
